Meet Captain Harold Gravatt
Tournament-Trained. River-Tested. Ready to Put You on Fish.

I've been fishing these Michigan river systems most of my life, and I competed in tri-state bass tournaments for years before I started guiding.
What tournament fishing teaches you, more than anything, is how to think when the bite is tough.
Where are the fish holding? What are they eating? What's the presentation that gets them to commit?
You learn to read water fast, or you don't cash checks.
Guiding felt like the natural next step.
I wanted to share what I'd learned, not just help people catch fish, but help them understand why they're catching fish.
Guests tell me that's one of the things that keeps them coming back.
I run two river systems across the season.
In April, I head south to the Detroit River near Wyandotte for the spring walleye run.
Walleye season on the St. Marys doesn't open until May 15, so following the fish south in April just made sense.
The Detroit River spring run is one of the best bites in the Midwest, and I'd rather be on productive water than waiting around.
When walleye season opens up north, I'm back in Sault Ste. Marie on the St. Marys River through the rest of the season.
This is home water for me.
I know it from the Sault south to DeTour: the walleye holes, the pike flats, where bass hold in the current.
That local knowledge is something you can't fake.
I've been featured on Great Lakes Fisherman's Digest, and I've had guests turn their first trip into an annual tradition.
That's the part I enjoy most: people who come back.
I'll keep in touch with you before your trip, check conditions, and make sure we have a plan.
If the fish are being stubborn, we're going to keep working until we find them. That's just how I operate.
